Physical Therapy is Key to Maximizing Function after Illness or Surgery
Physical therapy often plays a major role in the recovery process for both illness and surgery alike. The primary objective of a home care physical therapist is to maximize home health care with all patients. For instance, at Empathy Care, our therapists may train patients on how to properly get in and out of bed, get up and down from a chair, negotiate a flight of stairs or just walk from the bedroom to the bathroom.
To best help a patient in achieving a higher level of function, the therapist may use stretching, strengthening, balance training, manual therapy techniques and/or other therapeutic modalities. Patient and caregiver education is a cornerstone of physical therapy.
Of course, everyone is unique. For that reason, our physical therapists always tailor home exercise programs that meet the individual needs of every patient.
As with most therapies, compliance with a home exercise program along with the skilled care of a trained physical therapist will give each patient the best opportunity to have the highest possible outcome.
